Recovering your Ledger Live wallet means restoring access to your crypto accounts, typically using your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase. This process is essential if your Ledger device is lost, stolen, or reset. Follow this secure, step-by-step guide.
First, download and install the latest version of the Ledger Live app on your computer or smartphone only from the official Ledger website . Do not use third-party sources to avoid phishing risks.
Open the Ledger Live app and connect your Ledger device via USB or Bluetooth. On the welcome screen, choose "Restore your recovery phrase on a new device" . This option tells the app you want to recover existing accounts rather than create new ones.
On the Ledger device itself, select the appropriate recovery phrase length (12, 18, or 24 words) and carefully enter each word in the exact order as written on your Recovery Sheet . Use the device buttons to navigate and confirm each word. Never type your recovery phrase on any computer or phone—only enter it directly on the Ledger hardware device .
After successfully entering your recovery phrase, the device will prompt you to choose a new 4-to-8 digit PIN . This PIN unlocks your device for future use.
Once your device is restored, go to the Accounts tab in Ledger Live and click "+ Add account" for each cryptocurrency you hold . Ledger Live will scan the blockchain and display your existing balances.
